Disney Flies High w/ Pure

So, I’m not sure if many of IGL’s readers are into racing games, but I’m not. I get bored with them quickly, unless they offer something unique which many don’t. However, I find myself quite contempt with Disney Studio’s new ATV racing game “Pure”. When I first played the Pure demo I was a bit iffy on the entire concept of Disney making a serious game. I was expecting little critters from Monsters Inc. and Toy Story to pop out and push me off the track, but sadly those things never happened. Nonetheless, Pure is a great racing game with endless choices.

Pure has a great set of tracks to race on. Rather than the same redundant tracks like many other games, Pure has a plethora of over 30 different tracks to race on. On many tracks you can hit a hill at the perfect speed and fly hundreds of feet, leaving you the ability to do as many tricks as your heart desires. Pure isn’t only good for it’s good game play or it’s nice looking graphics; it’s online game play is almost godly. I’ve always said that I would love to play a basketball game online with ten people playing along; and Pure answered my prayers but in racing form. You can race online with up to 15 other players. Say goodbye to the days of being number one in everything, suckers.

And now to the part that really blows my mind. The chances of you meeting someone online with the exact same bike as you is pretty impossible. As you continue through your racing career, you will unlock parts and extras to add on your ATV. As time progresses, you are able to make tons of changes to your quad’s performance and abilities as well as it’s look. The game developer has stated that there are over 65,000 possible combinations of customization (Wikipedia.org). The soundtrack also has some pretty rad bands like the Datsuns and Wolfmother.

The only thing that Disney’s “Pure” is missing is..well..Disney. If someone told me that this game was made by Disney, I wouldn’t believe them. It runs so smoothly and isn’t as glitchy as any other Disney game. Props to Disney and Black Rock Studio for a great game. I expected to find Hannah Montana as an unlockable character.

Seriously, I want to race as her.
